The Red Head Pig with a short little tail.
Hair always perfectly in place and flawless big beautiful blue eyes, she will smile at you as her brain goes a mile a minute. She is not only beautiful but brilliant in many things. she is short and you won’t even notice her height, because you quickly know this woman is powerful. This woman, my sister and one of the people aspire to be more like.
We are young and mom is perming her hair, as she sits on the ground between moms legs. She complains her head is burning and in true little sister style I tell her “ I hope it burns so bad your head falls off”. With a quickness she retorts “and I hope you and standing at the top of the stairs and it trips you, and you fall and break your neck”. See when we were young we hated each other. Each of us striving for attention and lacking the love of people whom should have loved us. I knew in the moment she retorted so quickly that my sister was destined for great things. See even through my hateful state with her I admired her beauty and brilliance.
Now skip ahead many years and she is no longer my sister, but the woman I am proudest of in this world. I admire her dedication to God, family and her career. She will never stop learning and will always be the best at what she does, it just is who she is.
Not only is she beautiful outside but she is magnificent on the inside too. For years she dedicates her life to God and her family. She cooks once a week for a homeless shelter, purchasing and cooking all the food. Oh by the way did I mention she is an amazing cook as well. She never misses a thing raising her children and loves deeply. She is deep in her emotions and expresses them with ease.
Yes this is my sister who is closest in age with me. A power house and amazing example of what a woman should be. She has moved to a state far away from me and sometimes it is really hard for me. See she is the one person in this world that has loved me truly, even through all my faults and mistakes. I can always count on her to pick up the phone and encourage me and lift me up. She is my best friend and who I inspire to be most like.
We both have sharp tongues, and quick comebacks. So when we decide to get into a little tiff , does the verbiage get out of control? But as quick as our anger comes is as quick as it leaves, because we truly love each other. I cannot tell you what it means to have one person in this world who I can trust with my soul and my heart. I am thankful every day for my sister, I’m thankful that God has blessed her with brains and beauty and kindness abound.
Now let me explain why the title of this is red, headed pig with a short little tail. Me and my sister would take the first letter of words and spell them out quickly, to give each other grief.See when you used the first letters mom never knew we were calling each other names. In a fury at me borrowing her pink cow neck without permission, she called me RHPWASLT, it took me a long time to figure out that she was calling me red headed pig with a short little tail. Now I know that doesn’t seem like very bad words, but in those days that was war. And so the fight begins, the letter throwing got real that day by the end of school we’re back to being normal sisters again, Thank you my sister for always giving me a challenge, for making me strive to be a better person, and for being someone, I can always look up to. I love you.
