They say love conquers all. Not one for fairytales, I’d have disagreed once. But life’s thrown me some curveballs lately. I’m learning love not only conquers but cures the world’s ailments.

Post-Covid, many found comfort in isolation. Yet, it bred depression and loneliness. With scant mental health care in the US, isolation deepened, shutting out affection and accountability. We’re realizing human touch and compassion are vital medicines. Social media, though connecting, lacks the depth of true human interaction. We’re trading genuine connection for emojis and texts.

But what if all human touch and vocal connection cease? If AI mimics compassion, we may lose something vital. Our bodies crave touch and voice vibrations. We’re social creatures; this new digital socializing isn’t enough. Studies show human touch heals profoundly.

So, I urge you: take time for someone today. Skip texting or calling; visit them. Give a genuine, lingering hug. When asked how you are, answer honestly, and encourage others to do the same. Let’s embrace true communication and touch—it’s the best medicine. With compassion, we can change the world.
