Developed by Dwight Bedsaul. When building online communities and interactive websites, one thing becomes obvious very quickly: users constantly ask questions. Whether they are looking for quick fact, explanations, or general information, people expect fast answers without leaving the site. The idea led me to create the QA Wikipedia Helper, a WordPress plugin designed to pull intelligent answers from multiple online knowledge sources while keeping the experience simple and user friendly. The plugin combines data from Wikipedia, DuckDuckGo Instant Answer API, and Google Knowledge Graph API. The goal was to create a lightweight Q&A system that could easily integrate into WordPress websites, social communities, and dark themed platforms without requiring a complicated setup.

I spent a lot of time building social and community driven systems, especially around WordPress integrations. One thing I noticed was that many websites either rely on basic search functions or force users to leave the platform to find information elsewhere. I wanted to build something that could answer questions directly inside the website while still being flexible enough for developers to customize. Instead of using a single data source, QA Wikipedia Helper intelligently works with multiple APIs to improve the chances of finding useful answers. If one source doesn’t provide a result, another source can step in.

Users can rate answers using simple feedback buttons. This allows the site owners/admins to identify weak responses and better  understand how well the system is performing over time. Voice search functionality was another feature I wanted to include because modern users increasingly rely on voice interactions, especially on mobile devices.

Whenever I build plugins, I try to think beyond the initial release. This plugin was designed so additional APIs, AI integrations, and enhanced search features could be added later without rebuilding the entire system. As AI powered communities continue growing, plugins like this can become part of larger intelligent community systems that help users find information faster and interact more naturally. I really enjoy building plugins for community interaction, real time information, analytics, API integrations and most of all user friendly experiences. I beleive this plugin combines all of those ideas into one project. You can view the full project here:
