Silence is Golden
In today’s society, it can be challenging to find trustworthy and genuine friends. Just when you believe you’ve built a strong friendship, you often experience a painful betrayal.
This makes you wonder what has happened to trust and loyalty among people. I’m personally a forgiving person, but there are certain boundaries that can’t be crossed, and trust is one of them.
When anger and hurtful words flow so easily, causing harm to others, it’s crucial to pause and consider the value of that person in your life. Is a small dispute truly worth the damage it inflicts on their heart?
I’ve always likened trust to paper. Once it’s crumpled, it can never return to its original state. The creases can’t be smoothed out. Although there’s still value in that sheet, who wants a tattered piece of paper to write their story on? Instead, it’s relegated to jotting down unimportant notes.
I continue to give people opportunities to prove me wrong, but the toxicity of the world has tainted even decent individuals. Selfishness and mental illness play significant roles in today’s world. People often seek instant gratification rather than considering the long term.
I still cherish companionship but have found it’s in my best interest to withdraw from the majority. Strive to be the kind of person who chooses silence over hasty words, as the tongue can be a dangerous weapon. The wounds it inflicts on a person’s heart are lasting.
Remember that one misstep can overshadow a million good deeds. So, please, think before you speak and prioritize someone else’s feelings over your own today.
